For example, most organisms (including nonanimals) are thermoconformers (body temperatures equal to that of the environment), whereas birds and mammals are generally thermoregulators, maintaining a stable internal temperature regardless of the environmental temperature. But some thermoconformers (such as some fish and insects) can avoid large changes in body temperature by changing their locations in the environment (see Chapter 15).
Coordination, and control Epithelial tissue is made up of cells specialized in the exchange of materials. This tissue is organized into two general types of structures: sheets and secretory glands. Epithelial cells are joined together very tightly to form epithelial sheets that cover and line various organs.
